Not far from the recently reconstructed Sava Square, another public space is being modernized. The reconstruction of the park in front of the building of Faculty of Economics, which bears the name of Luka Ćelović, known benefactor of the early twentieth century, will be completed in September.

The goal of reconstruction is primarily modernization and renovation of the Park, which is a central city area protected by the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments. Rehabilitation project does not involve a change in size of the park, but there will be smaller adjustment in the ratio between hard surfacing and greenery.

This park covers an area of just less than 6,700 square meters, of which nearly 2000 square meters covered, paved, or the pedestrian paths. The new design has increased the area of green space for about 100 square meters.

The existing pedestrian communication in the park will be replaced by new, more durable materials. The old paths were constructed from 3 cm thick concrete slabs, which will be replaced with a concrete curtain of printed concrete 10cm thick.

With regard to content and functions in the park, there would be no changes. Only the old fountain of grated stone will be replaced with a concrete one, which will have four drinking taps. Old Belgrade standardized benches will be removed because of the very bad state of the materials, and replaced with 38 new benches without backrest, 12 with the backrest, and 20 trash bins.

The reconstruction of green areas include new grass, planting of seven high and 16 medium-sized trees and more than 2,000 seedlings of various decorative shrubs.

Nedaleko od nedavno sređenog Savskog trga polako odmiču radovi na uređenju parka ispred Ekonomskog fakulteta. Rekonstrukcija parka koja nosi ime Luke Ćelovića, poznatog dobrotvora sa početka prošlog veka, biće završena tokom septembra.

Cilj rekonstrukcije je pre svega modernizacija i uređenje parka, koji je deo centralne ambijentalne celine “Stari Grad” zaštićene od strane Zavoda za zaštitu spomenika kulture grada Beograda. Projekat sanacije ne podrazumeva promenu površine parka, ali će doći do manje promene odnosa tvrdih zastora u odnosu na zelenilo.

Površina celog parka je nešto manje od 6.700 kvm, od čega je skoro 2000 kvm pokriveno, betonirano ili pod stazama za pešake. Novo rešenje sanacije povećalo je zelene površine za oko 100 kvadrata.

Postojeće pešačke komunikacije u parku biće zamenjene novim, trajnijim materijalima. Stare stazice su bile izgrađene od betonskih ploča debljine 3cm, koje će biti zamenjene sa betonskim zastorom od štampanog betona debljine 10cm.

Što se tiče sadržaja i funkcija koje je park imao, tu neće biti nikakvih promena. Jedino će česma od struganog kamena biti zamenjena sa betonskom, koja će imati četri točeća mesta. Stare beogradske standardizovane klupe će biti uklonjene zbog jako lošeg stanja u kom se nalaze, a na njihovo mesto biće postavljeno 38 novih klupa bez naslona, 12 sa naslonom, kao i 20 đubrijera.

U okviru rekonstrukcije zelenih površina biće zamenjen travnjak, posađeno 7 visokih i 16 srednjih lišćara i preko 2000 sadnica raznog ukrasnog žbunja.
